A Beijing Olympic Experience

NBDO with FIBA Executives
The World Olympics in Beijing was a great experience. I had the opportunity to go as an assistant to the Chef De Mission Mr. Bill Keldermans. My accreditations was Chef De Mission Attache and my duties was to attend the Chef De Mission meetings in the morning and to assist Mr. Keldermans with his duties as the head of the Palau delegation. As it the highest organized sporting event in the world, I was fortunate to have an Olympic family access to all venues of the games. In the opening ceremony I sat in the stands under the flags of the world and had a wonderful experience watching all the extraordinary things they did in the Birds nest. I attended the opening of the basketball games with Mr. Keldermans and PBF President Frank Kyota. I had the opportunity to meet Fiba Oceania Secretary General Mr. Steve Smith and his wife Judy Smith and all the high officials of Fiba Oceania and FIBA world. The most memorabe experience was when I met the President of the United States in the Olympic Family VIP room on my way out to watch the game, when I humbly asked for his autograph he said yes and sighned my Team Palau hat. I had the opportunity to watched some of the most exciting basketball games in the world in both men and women competition and also met and got pictures of some of the super stars of the sports. It's amazing to know that eventhough you meet and dine with superstars of the different sports, they are still humans and they try their best to be humble and sign autographs and pose for pictures with you. I had the opportunity to tour the Great Wall, Forbiden city, stay at the olympic village and taste not only Chinese cuisine but also International cuisine. I wish to take this opportunity and thank God first for this opportunity of a lifetime. I also want to thank the Palau National Olympic Committee, Fiba Oceania, FIBA world, Palau National Government and all the sponsors, business partners, volunteers and individuals who made this trip a reality experience for me. I dedicate this trip to all the hard working individuals, officials, administrators, families, players and most importatly the volunteers who truly LOVE the game and continues to spread the knowledge to all. Last but not least Mr. Stuart Manwarring, Jon Hoyle, Eddie Calic and Regan Kama. God Bless to all my island families throughout Oceania........................
