Reaction test with Smartspeed equipments
Monash University representatives Andrew Robinson and Trevor Alan along with Ann King from Samsung Australia arrived in Palau on January 16th and departed on January 23rd. Training for local trainers was held at Coral Reef Center on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to familiarize on the importance of the program and to familiarize on the equipments brought by Samsung worth about $8,000.00 dollars. On Monday to Wednesday the trainers made use of what they learned to test 200 students from the various elementary schools and high schools in Koror. The test using the latest technologies from Samsung used lights to measure speed and reaction movements on athletes performances. Basketball throw and high jumping and other tests were also used to measure athletes abilities and perfomances. All NOC staff and SDO's attended all the sessions and learned a lot from the experience. The trainers from Australia were very pleased with the outcome of the program and gave a high mark to the NOC and all the local trainers for their participation and eagerness to learn from the program. The NOC staff and trainers went to the famous rock islands for some R & R to close the program.
