Shark Attack opens campaign with a win

Defending champion Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) Shark Attack started its title retention campaign with a victory over Fish and Fins, 88-75 Tuesday night at the start of the 2009 Rudimch Government/Business basketball league at the Palau National gym.

The defending champs waxed hot in the first half as they took a commanding 47-38 lead and from there they never looked back to take their first win for this season. Javis Pedro led the scoring chores for Shark Attack with 28 points while Clint topscored for Fish and Fins with 17 on a losing cause.

In other games, Galaxy Builders drubbed Cliffside Hotel, 85-43; WCTC/Fuji won over Palasia Hotel, 78-58; MOE I Spiders defeated MOF, 78-59; Cops downed Koror State Government, 63-58 and Sam’s Sharks outgunned Island Rhythm, 67-61.

Games set Friday night pits R and D versus PPR Stingrays at 6 p.m. followed by the Island Rhythm-Palasia Hotel tussle at 7:30 p.m. while PPR Shark Attack will be pitted against WCTC/Fuji in the main game at 9 p.m.

Comprising the Business division are defending champion Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) Shark Attack, PPR Stingrays, Sam’s Tour, Kabong, Palasia, Fuji/WCTC, Fish ‘N Fins, Galaxy Builders, Cliffside Hotel, Palau Royal Resort (PRR) Royals, Surangel and Sons and news comer SDA (Palau Travel Agency).

On the other hand, teams in the Government division are Koror State Government (KSG), Cops, Ministry of Education (MOE) I Spiders, Ministry of Finance (MOF) Omsangel, PNOC/PBRA and PNCC.

The league, which is sponsored by Rudimch Enterprises, is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program and all violators will be banned from participating.
