Solomon Slam 3x3_Maiden event hits Honiara with a bang

Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) with the assistance of the newly appointed 3x3 Coordinator Mr. Golden Kiloko activated the nations first 3x3 competition using the latetst 3x3 Event organizer.

Solomon Slam 3x3 Championship was organized and kicked off successfully last Sunday 24th May at the Multi-Purpose hall, and it was a first ever formal and biggest 3x3 basketball championship organized in Solomon Islands. Using the Event Maker digital tool, this had contributed much to the success of the event especially scheduling of fixtures, timing of games, results, standing, brackets and so forth.  But the overall highlight was the wonderful basketball action that lasted the entire day.

The Solomon Slam Championship is part of Solomon Island Basketball Federation 3x3 development planned in the country, and also promotional method and experimental of implementing the newly introduced 3x3 concept code.

Eight (8) Teams were registered and competed in the Men’s category, unfortunately one of the Team was not able to confirm their players on time. Seven (7) Teams were registered and competed in the Women’s category. 

Men`s Team: Marist, Crusaders, Mintor Blazers, Western Bullets, D-Fenders, Street Ballers, Crusaders 2. Women`s Team: Sunrise 1, Sunrise 2, Sunrise 3, D-Fenders 1, D-Fenders 2, Maroons, Rocket Stars.

The finals saw Marist take on Crusaders in the mens category and came out winners after going overtime.

In the womens category Sunrise 1 beat sister group Sunrise 2 to take the title as the newly crowned 3x3 womens champions.

The general feedback from teams was that they were impressed with the successful organizing of the events, and also enjoyed playing the game of 3x3, as it is a fast paced and fiercely competitive game that can showcase skills, and a most preferred format recreational basketball.
