Independence knockout this year started on the 12th of july 2011 and so far, the tournament is still going on.
As the basketball career pathway is concern, we have for the first time applying the system of three man referees and we are still working our way through that with the help of one of our senior referee Mr. Junior mahit. Trials are still going on, educating our referees on this referring system. He (Mr. Mahit) will also be part of the sport delegation that is travelling down to Noumea for the South Pacific Games as a referee.
The grand finals will occur on the 13th of August that is on a Saturday afternoon. In this tournament, we have teams from all around efate especially Port vila competing in two different divisions:
1. Division 1
2. Division 2
In mens division 1 we have 8 best teams in Efate league compete until this finals stage. The tournament was very interesting and tough to witness the best teams performing at their best. It is motivating to see that most of the players have improved a lot in their game as compared to the last tournament (ECL)
In womens division 1 we have 8 teams in the tournament .The competition between the womens division 1 team is very challenging to have the young players demonstrate their talent .So far we are in semi finals and we have four best teams are playing to secure their position in the grand final. Sia raga 1 vs All stars and Tupuji vs ABM on Thursday 11 of August 2011. From then on we will notify who is going up to the Finals.
