Annie La Fleur Visit:
All basketball fans in Port Vila are invited to attend the clinics and workshops being presented by Annie. Annie is a former Australian National player, winning silver for Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
For the first time in history that Vanuatu Basketball Federation organized the 3on3 Basketball tournament for under 16 junior programs in Vanuatu. The tournaments took place last Saturday 28th of April at stade court started from 10am until 2pm in the afternoon.
The purpose of this tournament is to select some talented players to train for the 3on3 tournament in Australia in July and also to keep them prepared for the New Caledonia team AS6eme who will be visiting the country soon in May for a competition.
The tournament turned out to be successful and was interesting also for the kids as they were being exposed to this new set of game and the rules. We had six clubs who confirmed their participation in this tournament, they are; Sia Raga club, Tupuji club, Central school, Malapoa college, Wan smol bag center and the Development squad. Unluckily, not all clubs and schools turned up for the games. We only have Sia raga club with three teams, two boys and one girls team and the development team with two girls and a boys team. At the end of the tournament, results showed that Sia raga womens team won the tournament and the boys title goes to the Development team.
The director of the media Mrs. Mildred Izono helped out a lot to run the tournament and also the senior Sia raga team girls with rules and referring the tournament. The federation is really proud for the under 16 clubs that manage to carry out the under 16 junior programs on going.
