The new executive has now established a new format national touch championship (NTC) beginning next year 2008, as part of meeting higher expectations of the PNGSF for PNG teams to perform well at the international events like the SP Games and World Touch Cup, as well as the national championships.

The NTC in 2008 starting June scheduled for Lae will be what is now known as the Provincial National Touch Championship (PNTC). Here teams taking part will be provincial based, meaning that, the teams are provincial selected teams. The players & team management will be selected from inter-provincial championships between associations in a province. The date set for the inter- provincial championships is April 2008 and thereafter biannually.

 This event will held bi-annually with the current National Touch championships between associations teams will be played during the new month of August. The month of August to ensure Touch is the only sporting national event being played so touch gets attention and so our sports profile can grow and attract sponsorships and new interests from new players & technical officials etc.

The provincial championships will be the venue for selection of players & team officials to the SP Games and the World touch cup events. The Association national Touch championships (ANTC) will be the venue to select players for the Arafura, Masters Games in Australian state of Brisbane & Alice Springs.
