Champions Prevail in POM 2008 IOO Series
Mighty Blues on Mother’s Day, Sunday 11th of May 2008 claimed their third consecutive Industry of Origin title to stamp their mark as the champion industry in Corporate Touch Port Moresby. The champions cruised home to the title with 6 games to 1 victory leaving opponents Great White searching for answers. Until Sunday the both camps were separated by a single point after two rounds of the 2008 Industry of Origin Series.
In the decider on Sunday the champions stepped up to another gear to demonstrate their dominance. They won the Juniors U/19 Grils contest 3-2, Junior U/19 Boys 4-3, Senior Mix 15-13, Open Mix 7-6, Open Women 4-1 and Open Men 5-3. The Great White camp saved some face when they beat the pre-match favorites 6-3 in the Masters match after unsuccessful attempts in the both earlier rounds. The White Collar camp almost won both Junior U/19 Boys and Open Men contests forcing both matches into extra-time “drop-off”, however the champion Blue Color camp survived in the end.
