COFFS HARBOUR - In a highly charged, fast paced game Fiji were too strong for Papua New Guinea winning 91-36.
Led by captain Mikaelar Whippy, it didn't take long for Fiji to get out to a 30-point lead.
The Fijians extended that lead going into half time 52-14.
After the break Papua New Guinea came out firing, scoring the first points. Louisa Wallace the top scorer for Papua New Guinea.
But it was the quick hands and good teamwork that helped Fiji to its first win of the Tournament.
"We're happy to get our first win, to get the cobwebs out. We got the ball out quickly and substituted every player," said Fiji coach Michael Whippy.
