Vanuatu Women hold Tough
This morning the Vanuatu Womens team, favourite for the Gold medal were put under heavy pressure from a spirited Fijian Team.
The fijians got off to a great start taking the first to matches with youngster Priscilla Tommy and Kerry Anne Mok from Vanuatu both struggling to play their best table tennis.
In perhaps the best match so far in the Women's event the young Fijian Shriti Jeet had one of the Gold medal favourites Anolyn Lulu under big pressure taking the first game and having a game point in the 2nd game. However the tough Ni-Vanautu Lulu fought back to take the game and eventually the match 3-1.
From this point on the Vanuatu team did not look back and they then went on to steam roll the Fiji team taking the next 5 matches to take the match 6 - 3.
They will now go on to play New Caledonia for the Gold medal match tonight. New Caledonia had at the same time cemented their place in the "final" with an easy win over the Solomon Islands.
