STOP HIV National Coordinator qualifies for London

Earlier today, STOP HIV National Coordinator, Anolyn Lulu received news that she qualified for the 2012 Olympics.  When congratulated, the ecstatic former national table tennis coach to the last Olympics in Beijing exclaimed, "I couldn't believe it! I'm so happy!  My chest is still falling!"  According to Ano (as she is fondly known), "when Henry (CEO VASANOC) told me, I was in shock and started to cry!"

"STOP HIV has made an impact on me as an athlete.  It has helped grow my values - the Olympic values and strong leadership skills.  Through sport and STOP HIV I have been able to help others - other athletes make wise decisions about their lives, including mine".

When asked what her plans were from now she said, "It's a big thing (going to the Olympics), I just don't know.  I'm thinking about my job, the reports that need to go in and implementing all my plans for this year."  She was advised by STOP HIV Program Manager, Margaret Eastgate to bask in the thrill of the moment and place work plans to the side - if only very briefly.

Ano, together with STOP HIV Facilitator, Gaberieli Qoro head out into the field to conduct assessments on Peer Leaders that were trained last year.

The Regional STOP HIV Team congratulates Ano on reaching the pinnacle of any athlete's career - representing her home country, Vanuatu at the Olympic Games!
