Kalkee stormed into second place after beating Laharum 42-27.
The Kees’ rock-solid defensive tandem of veteran Paula Weidemann and young gun Stevie Bibby was hugely influential – especially early in the game.
Laharum goal shooter Caitlin Story has been one of the league’s top scorers, but was held without a goal in the first term.
A 13-3 quarter from the Kees set the tone for the game, with Mikayla McAuliffe and Hayley Thomas working effectively in goals.
The visitors never got close after that despite playing solid netball at times.
Kees coach Rachel Thomson said her side was happy to get a win.
“It might look like an easy game from the scores, but it was still a high-intensity game from Laharum and we had to fight it out to the end,” she said.
“We just kept plugging away and everyone contributed and got involved.
“We’re happy to take the four points and we’re happy with the game, but we want to stay grounded.”
Thomson said the biggest test of the team’s credentials would come on Saturday against reigning premier Harrow-Balmoral.
