Netball Victoria League Club Challenge.
Wandin's A grade premiership winning team from 2016 is competing against 9 other flag winners from across Victoria this weekend at the State Netball Centre in Parkville.
Today we played 6 games all 2 x 12 min halves. The girls had a tough day playing all the top clubs first up. We finished the day with 2 wins and 4 losses.
The scores were:
Crib Point 14 v Wandin 8
Kyabram 18 v Wandin 13
Edithvale-Aspendale 12 v Wandin 24
Kangaroo Flat 18 v Wandin 12
Narre Warren 27 v Wandin 10
Diamond Creek 14 v Wandin 15
Our team for the day was Ty Tayissa Coppinger, Sam Coppinger, Ruby Tidd, Kathleen McMahon, Alanna Lennie, Charlotte Sparkes, Sinead Lumsden, Ciara Lumsden and Liv Weinberg.
We had four players from last years A grade grand final team with one from B grade and the remaining players from last years U17 team. The day finished with an amazing shot at goal, Sinead Lumsden shot from just inside the circle after the siren to win the game by a goal. The day started a with a team that had not played together before, it was evident early, however with hindsight they were playing one of the top sides. Our defenders Ty, Ruby and Alanna were outstanding, in the mid court Sam, Kathleen, Charlotte and Ciara moved the ball around quickly and under the goals Sinead and Liv were often forced to take a long shot with regular success. The difference from game 1 to 6 was very evident, they were now playing as a cohesive unit.
Tomorrow we play Drouin, Thurgoona and Echuca, we are currently 7th on the ladder.
