Cats end season with terrific victory
The Cooma Cats have thanked their supporters in the best way possible with an amazing come from behind win over the Gunghalin Jets in the final game of the 2011 AFL Canberra season.
In what has been described as the Cats’ best 20 minutes of football in recent years, the Cats piled on seven goals to two in the final quarter to erase a three goal deficit at three quarter time and record an amazing 11 point victory. And in so doing, they capped off the club’s best on season in recent history.
The final score read: Cooma Cats 16-11-107 defeated the Gungahlin Jets 14-12-96.
Cats call on supporters for season finale
The Cats went down to Eastlake in Canberra on the weekend in what was a very disappointing result for the club.
The final score was Cooma 7-5-47 defeated by Eastlake 8-19-67.
Cats’ pride shows through
An under-strength and season-weary Cooma Cats went down to a determined and finals-bound Cootamundra Blues at Snowy Oval on the weekend.
The final score read Cooma 10-8-68 defeated by Cootamundra 14-16-100.
While the result was disappointing for the Cats, club president Dave Paterson was full of praise for the Cooma side.
“Apart from a period in the second quarter, we pretty well matched the much fitter and stronger Cootamundra side which was a real credit to the team,” Dave said.
Cats struggle to find winning formula
The Cooma Cats’ end of season slump has continued, this time going down to a much improved Belconnen Magpies in Canberra over the weekend.
The final score read Cooma 9.5.58 defeated by Belconnen 15.10.100
For the Cats, it was another disappointing result to a game which on earlier form the Cooma side could have won.
Cats show big improvement and positive signs for the future
While the Cooma Cats went down to the Goulburn Swans in Goulburn on the weekend, their performance was much improved on recent weeks and showed that the team was already starting to look towards next season with a great deal of optimism.

Poor second quarter costs Cats
Five unanswered goals by the ADFA Rams in the second quarter cost the Cooma Cats the game – and any real possibility of finals football in 2011 – in the club’s must win game at Snowy Oval on Saturday.
Needing to win against a vastly improved ADFA side on the weekend to keep their 2011 season alive, the Cats played probably their worst single quarter of football at Snowy Oval in a long time and, despite a much better effort in the second half, went down to the Rams by 60 points in a disappointing result for the club.
The loss sees the Cats drop down to the bottom half of the ladder in Canberra AFL Division Four competition. The Cats are now playing for pride and hope to finish the season as strongly as they started in order to set a strong foundation for 2012.

Needing to win against the second placed ANU, the Cats wasted opportunity after opportunity to go down 6-10-46 to 13-9-87.

The Cooma Cats have gone down by a solitary point to arch rival Yass in a thrilling AFL Canberra Division Four encounter at Snowy Oval on the weekend.
The final score read Cooma Cats 11-11-77 defeated by the Yass Kangaroos 11-12-18.
Cats bounce back with solid win
The Cooma Cats have bounced back with a sluggish win over the Murrumbidge Juggernauts on the weekend and strengthened their hold on fourth spot in the AFL Canberra Division Four competition at the mid-point of season.

Cats suffer Coota blues
The Cooma Cats have suffered a dose of the “Coota blues” losing only their second game of the season on the weekend, but remaining half a game clear in fourth spot in the AFL Canberra Division 4 competition.
The Cats 7-3-45 went down to the Cootamundra Blues in Cootamundra 15-12-102.
But while the score line blew out in the final quarter with the home side booting seven goals to one, the Cats were far from disgraced and have many positives to take away from the game.
Sensational Cats grab top four spot
The Cooma Cats have moved into third spot on the AFL Canberra Division 4 competition ladder after a thrilling win against the Harman Hogs at Snowy Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The Cats won the match 13-9-87 over the Hogs 13-6-84.
The win puts the Cats outright third on the ladder behind the undefeated Tuggeranong Hawks and then ANU. The Hogs and the Yass Kangaroos are in fourth and fifth position.

The Cats ran out strong winners over a struggling Jets side 18-11-119 to 5-4-34 in a percentage boosting win which help the inform Cooma side at the business end of the season in September.

In what can only be described as a tough struggle, the Cooma Cats have come away with the four points over the Belconnen Magpies at the Station Resort Oval in Jindabyne on the weekend.
The final score saw the Cooma Cats 15-9-99 defeated the Belconnen Magpies 13-10-88.
Cats let historic win slip in entertaining draw
The Cooma Cats surrendered the lead in the final moments of their game against the Goulburn Swans on Saturday and with it saw an historic win turn into a disappointing draw.
With only moments to go and in front for most of the game, the Cats gave away an unfortunate 50 metre penalty in the forward line which the Swans finished off with a goal to tie up the game. The final score read Cooma 10-8-68 tied with Goulburn 9-14-68.
New jumper and renewed spirit seal Cats’ first win
While the weather belonged to the ducks, the day belonged to the Cooma Cats who had an emphatic win over ADFA in their AFL Canberra Round Two clash in Canberra on Sunday (10 April). On a cold and wet day, the Cooma Cats took the game by the throat with a five goal to nothing blitz in the first quarter leaving the ADFA Rams floundering in their wake. With centre-man Mick Johnston seemingly everywhere, the Cats dominated the early play with a succession of quality goals from deliberate plays and accurate kicking. The final score was: Cooma Cats 10-9-69 defeating ADFA Rams 4-13-37.
Tuggeranong Hawks down Cats in season opener
On a perfect autumn day for football, the Cooma Cats launched their 2011 season at Snowy Oval in Cooma against competition new comers Tuggeranong. an opening round victory. However, an opening game victory eluded the Cats. Leading a team of debutants and veterans onto the field were co-captains Jimmy Russell and Adam Asanovski. The Cats were no match for a determined Tuggeranong Hawks outfit keen to stamp their presence on the league as competition newcomers to be reckoned with. The Cats went down to the Hawks 5-5-35 to 13-13-91.
