Jets Basketball - Guidelines for Team Managers

Thank you for volunteering your time to become the Team Manager for your team. Without the support of parents, the Club would be unable to function effectively, and we are very grateful for your help. Team Managers are important people in terms of communication between parents of players in teams and Club and Stadium officials. They also support the coach in administrative matters.

As Team Manager you are required to do the following:

  • Obtain the playing tops from the Uniforms Coordinator. (Refer to Jets Website).
  • Distribute the tops at or before the first game and collect them at the end of the season.
  • Teams have the option of individual players retaining their tops for the season or the Team Manager (or other parent volunteer) distributing, collecting and washing for each game.
  • Record and retain a copy of the tops distributed to each player. Each top has a playing number, top number code and size.
  • The Team Playing Tops are provided you as Team Manager. You may be asked to sign a pledge on behalf of the team to manage the shirts in accordance with club policy.
  • Draw up a Scoring Roster for parents and remind them, if necessary, that it is their responsibility to attend matches and score when they are so rostered or arrange for a replacement if unable to attend.
  • Check the Electronic Score Sheet is filled in with the players First Name and Last Name and their appropriate number is entered and making sure only those players present are marked as playing that game.
  • When a new or fill-in player joins the team during the season, the name, date of birth, of the player may need to be added to the team list via the electronic Stadium Scoring system.
  • All players should wear full, correct attire at every game, i.e., Correct and numbered shirt and black Willetton shorts (which can be purchased from the Stadium Office). New players must be in correct uniform for their first game for the club. The team is fined 5 points for each player out of correct uniform.
  • The coach may need assistance in organising a small end of year party, but this should not be in lieu of any all-Club event which may be held at which all players and coaches are expected to attend.
  • At times you may have to share your task with others. Please be aware that under the Working With Children (WWC) legislation the Coach and Team Manager roles can only be undertaken by parents with children in the club or by persons who have a valid WWC or Police clearance.

Again, thanks for your assistance and best wishes for a successful season. If you have any queries or concerns, please contact the relevant Committee Member (refer to Jets Website.
