A single vote in the last round saw Josh Menz keep abreast of team mates in the Under 18 B & F vote count to take out the award for 2008. In a count where the votes awarded for each match were on a 3 - 2 - 1 basis, Josh Menz polled 15 votes to win the Bob Manning Shield by one vote from B & F Runner-up Luke Ruf. Club Life Member Bob Manning presented his perpetual shield while Coach Nigel Opbroek presented the individual B & F trophy.
Menz lead the vote count after 9 rounds by 2 votes (12) from Luke Ruf (10), Will Sutton (9) and Tiger Monk (6). He then polled a further 2 votes in Round 14 and 1 vote in Round 15 to finish in front. Ruf polled highest in Round 12 and gained 1 vote in Round 13, which was his last.
The final count was Josh Menz - 15 votes, Luke Ruf - 14 votes, Tiger Monk & Will Sutton - 10 votes and Brayden Fitzpatrick - 7 votes.
Many of the Under 18 players, especially those in B & F contention, also played for the Seniors and Reserves during the season only to back up on Sundays for their matches.
Indicative of the closeness of the vote count in the last 6 rounds, Mason Harding (Rd 10), Andrew Sponneck (Rd 11), Josh Brown (Rds 13 & 14) and Brayden Fitzpatrick (Rd 15) polled the 3 points.
In the season in which he celebrated his 200th junior game, Josh Menz also won the Parents Award.
