Chance for Hornets to step up!!!

This weekends NEAFL game against the Lions is a chance for our boys to send a message to all other clubs that we are a real threat in 2013. A win would not only set the scene for a top 3 finish, but would also be the first time since entering the State League the we have won 5 games in a row.

Aspley Achievers 2013 - Community Family Award

The Richardson Family were recognised for the generosity of their time to the Community. The Aspley Achievers Awards for 2013 were held Sunday 16th June 2013 and Tracy Davis MP announced the Richardson Family (Denise, Scott and sons Jordan and Liam as the winners of the Community Family Award for the Aspley Achievers 2013. PINK DAY brings out best in Hornets!!!!

The NEAFL Seniors turned on a clinic as they disposed of the winless Vultures in clinical fashion in from of a large crowd on Sunday. Reece Toye racked up multiple persessions as the lads ran out 93 point winners and cement themselves in the top 3.

Hutchy reaches 50 game milstone

Michael Hutchinson will play his 50th State League game for Aspley this week when the lads travel down to Labrador. Hutchy has developed into one of our key backmen and is very rarely beaten. His explosive closing speed along with his agility and verticle leap allows him to play on both tall and short opponents.
We wish him well and hope he can sneak down forward and kick a goal like last week!!more

Young Hornets starting to reach milestones

Congratulations to Matt Nickerson who reached his 50th senior game for the Hornets last week which spanned over 5 seasons. This was mainly due to a rough run with injuries over the 2011/12 seasons.
Over the next two weeks baring injury,we will have another two players reaching their 50th game.
This week Michael Hutchinson turn and the following week it will be Adam Hughes who will reach his 50 game milestone.more

Ivesy elevated to State U18s Scorpions squad

James Ives has had a late call up to bolster the mid field stocks of the State U18 Scorpions as they prepare for their 5 games in the Nation Championships over the next 8 weeks.
After a solid start to the season in the Aspley NEAFL team, James will relish the oppotunity to have another crack at catching the eye of the AFL recruiters. We all wish you the best mate!!!! See you back in round 17more

10 Hornets make U18s "Scorpions" State squad

10 of our 12 players vying for State selection, have made it into the final training squad in preparation for 2013 u18s Nation titles.

Sam Gribble, Izaac Conway, Cain Tickner, Nic Jackson, Aiden Rutledge,
Jono Freeman, Josh Stiller, Laclan Niland-Rowe and 17 year olds Liam Dawson and Jacob Watson.

OOh so close!!!!

With the round 1 game done and dusted, many Hornets fans left the Southport game feeling that their new look team was just one kick shy of pulling of the clubs most memorable victory since entering the State League. The Sharks have rarely been beaten at home and Saturday s challenge of taking on the powerhouse team was always going to be tough.more

The Family Richardson

At our Awards at the Youth Presentation Day the Richardson Family scooped the pool and rightly so. Denise Richardson was awarded the RSL Shield for Best Club Woman, husband Scott was awarded the Tim Gillsepie Shield for Best Clubman and son Jordan was awarded the Les Parfitt Appreciation Award for Junior Clubman. The Richardson's are an amazing family we are sure their middle name is Volunteer.more
