Out and About
Werribee Community Development Manager Chris Gallagher has been busy with the club involved in several community events. The “Get into Footy” day saw nearly 300 school students descend onto Avalon Airport Oval to enjoy two hours of AFL games and activities. The event was a joint venture between the Werribee football Club, AFL Auskick and the Australian Sports Commission’s AASC program. The club also organised a team that took part in the 2013 AFL Unity Cup. This competition is in its sixth year and features teams from all over Australia and the object is to use football as the way of strengthening ties between the Police, Muslim and other culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Last week Avalon Airport Oval was host as 20 North Melbourne players ran a super clinic. Werribee will be hosting its own during the next school holidays. Tigers players and Chris will be visiting nearly 20 schools during term 2 as part of the “Active Kids” program.
