The new season is on the door step and everybody at the Werribee footy club can't wait for it. This is my first year in the role of senior coach and I can tell you it has been both rewarding and demanding. Here is a run down of the schedule we have just completed.
Pre-season for the club started on the 15th of November and finishes this week on the 24th of March. In this time the players have completed 51 training sessions, 5 practice games, a training camp at Phillip Island (Friday-Sunday) and a fund raising match of cricket. Also the players complete at least 2 weights sessions a week and numerous other activities to help them to get into the best shape possible. As you can see the players have been hard at it.
The Werribee Football Club had 75 players who started out to try and gain a spot on the list, what we have now is 43 players, who I'm sure will represent the club in the best way possible. Of this list, we have 20 new players, to add to the players from last year. The club through an extensive search, and with the aid of our recruiting manager Mark Armstrong, were able to secure some very exciting talent which you will see this weekend.
There is a great chance for people to come along and watch your local team and show your support. In closing, let me assure you the team that runs onto the ground will be a team with a very competitive mindset and who will continue at all times to show the true Werribee spirit.
