The Parent
As a young kid he was terrific, really. In fact, he was too perfect, just like his father."
No prize for guessing that comment comes from Peter Robertson, father of Travis.
He really excelled in Little Aths and was picked for Australia to travel overseas to the U.K and the U.S.A. He was a four hundred metre specialist."
Football began with the Geelong Amateurs, and at seventeen, Travis won the League Best and Fairest.
"His dedication was always there. I remember one game - he was playing centre half forward He had kicked nine goals and the coach was getting ready to drag him, and he was more than willing to forsake his own personal glory for the team."
Travis had a year at the Falcons then three flag winning years at North Shore in the G.F.L.
Richmond added him to its supplementary list and after that, he came to Werribee.
The Coach
When Simon Atkins was appointed as senior coach of the Werribee Football Club he said - in his first public statement - that Travis Robertson was the epitome of everything he wanted in a player at the club.
"Nothing has changed. He is a genuine bloke and that is how he plays his footy. That is why he has the respect of the playing group. He came to the V.F.L when it didn't have such a high profile. I have no doubt if he was twenty one or twenty two now, he would have been drafted and played A.F.L football. He is fit, strong, smart and has the all round capabilities."
The Team Mate
Aaron Rau is deputy vice captain to Travis and has played alongside him for the last five years.
"He is the ultimate professional in the way he applies himself on and off the field. On the track, he is second to none. I see him as a person from whom I have learnt a lot, especially as I came to the club as an eighteen year old. He is someone I can talk to about my footy and life."
The Man himself
"Playing one hundred games means a lot to me. I see it as a high achievement as there have been some very good players who've played one hundred. It gives me Life Membership to the club, which also means a lot. The club record is 139 games and if I can continue to perform at this level and not get injured, that record might be in my sights. The highlight was the 2001 season, except for the Grand Final loss. That hurt. I also get a big kick out of watching the younger Bulldogs players and seeing them take the next step. I get a bit out of having a hand in their success. Playing state footy was also a real highlight. The lowlights have been our performances in the finals period. I have made some great friends and I will have them for life."
The End
Travis Robertson will lead the Werribee Tigers onto Chirnside Park this Sunday against the Box Hill Hawks. His parents Peter and Rosemary and sister Nicole will be there, as will his wife Kristie and his son Jordi.
Travis Robertson has plenty to be proud of, and Sunday will be a day to remember.
