As is the case in all football clubs but especially at VFL level the pre-season brings a lot of new faces to the club. Werribee has over 20 new players on the 2009 list and one of those is former Western Jet 18 year old Nathan Schroder.
Nathan began playing juniors with Sunshine before moving to Werribee Juniors and then the highest level for a junior player.
"I played a couple of years at the Jets, and at the end of last year Mark Penaluna gave me a call and now here I am at Werribee". Schroder said.
Things are looking pretty good for this first year player.
"I was 23rd man [first game], which was a pretty good experience, the boys helped me along."
"I am just hoping for consistency, and to keep my spot in the ones," he said.
Schroder made his debut on the weekend against Williamstown.
Unfortunately it was in atrocious conditions, but he, like the rest of the side, battled on.
In a game where Werribee went down by 66 points, he was far from the sideâÂÂs worst, having seven touches in all, and laying three crucial tackles.
"The conditions were pretty tough out there and I didnâÂÂt see much of it.
I did a few good things but could have been better,"
Nathan built quite a name for himself during his junior years and his time at the Jets where he was well renowned for his skills.
This season he has a pretty simple philosophy.
