League Results Round 12

THE buzzer beat Tracy Village in Tuesday night's Darwin Basketball Association men's league game.

Eagles had looked comfortable before the Jets' comeback produced a nailbiting 77-75 win.

Playmaker Timmy Duggan fed the ball well to Bobby Guyton (29 points) and Matthew Smith (33) with the Jets struggling to stop the inside scoring by Guyton and Smith.

Tom Leonard went on a scoring spree, sinking 46 points in Lightning's 126-86 win over Razzle.

Coach Jason Ivinson was happy with the win and the team's workrate. "It was a good transition game and hopefully helps to get our season back on track," he said.

The Warriors unveiled new recruit Johnny McLowan who had an immediate impact, hitting 20 points and providing strong defensive pressure.

But the undermanned Rebels had enough scoring strength in Chng (11), Kennedy (17) and Baldwin (19) to give them a 70-61 win.

In women's league games, Lightning beat Ansett 79-53 in a game charged with emotion.

Lightning's Claire O'Brien made the brave decision to play just days after the loss of her father John.

She channelled all her energy into the game, scoring 35 points to be the difference between the two sides.

Tamara Sheppard returned after a three-week break to hit 24 points. Sam Drescher (16) and Olivia Birkett (15) were Ansett's best.

Jets edged away by a few points each quarter to record a 55-44 win against Eagles.

Their tall timber controlled the boards, denying Eagles of rebound opportunities.

New recruit Jade Keightley (12) supported Tara Carroll (17) well, while Tikesa Docherty-Cole (12) led the team around the court and is becoming a more than capable back-up in the point guard role.
