League Women –Lightning v Tracy Village Jets

The Tracy Village Jets jump started their game against the Lightning with a strong 12-5 first quarter before cruising to their fifth straight win of the season, a 63-41 outing that keeps them one game ahead of Ansett and still undefeated. Georgii Howlett (21.3ppg) once again led the team with 17, but had plenty of support from Desiree Weetra & Kylie Duggan who put up 10pts each. Lightning played the Jets fairly even for the remainder of the game with Deearne Lee (3.67ppg) hitting a team high 17 which is her best showing in League for some time. Chelsea Cook (12.5ppg) also put up double figures with 10, but Lightning failed to make any inroads into the buffer the Jets had established early in the game.

Warriors v Ansett

Ansett flew past the Warriors 58-40 with Sam Drescher notching up another game high, this time 26pts and a double figure rebounding effort with support coming from Kia Bond (12) and Kate Hoschke (7). The Blues hit the lead early during a 11-6 run in the first quarter that blossomed into a 26-16 half time lead. They then put together another sustained run of 16-7 in the third quarter for a 42-23 advantage that put the game out of reach for the Warriors. Carolyn Nyhouse (14ppg) does give the Warriors a bit of hope though as she dropped 20 on Ansett and seems to be getting stronger with each game she plays.

Eagles v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels turned a 17-8 first quarter lead into a game winning effort as they dropped the Eagles 67-47 for their third win of the season. Jaylene Bonson (22ppg) scored the last 9pts of the first quarter and continued to pepper the hoop throughout the game to finish with a team and game high 28, her second +20 game since returning from injury. The Boundry sisters, Jaylene & Edith helped the Rebel cause with 12 and 11, Jaylene (9.5ppg) getting all her points from outside the 3 point line. Leonie Snowdon (5.5ppg) hit a season high 15 for the Eagles with Reina Shean adding 8.

League MEN –Ansett v Uni Rebels

Ansett won the bragging rights over the Uni Rebels with a tense 65-63 win that promises more close encounters for the remainder of the season. Andre’Moss (46.6ppg) from the Rebels took out the scoring honour’s with 27 while his counterpart, Rashad Chase from the Blues, hit 17. The Blues, however, behind a strong finish from Daniel Florance (16.2ppg) edged out the Rebels in the end game. Florance finished with a team high 18 for Ansett and none were more important than the final 6 straight that he hit to hand the Rebels their second loss of the competition. Ansett set up the win with a decisive second quarter run of 13-9 to give them a slim 3pt lead (28-25) heading into the half time break. From that point on the teams played virtually even. Steven Waudby (21ppg) hit 12 for the Rebels and Jake Feeney added 9 for the Blues.

Eagles v Lightning

The third quarter was all Eagles as they put the game out of reach with a 30-16 run (12 from Perkins). For Lightning Bailey finished with 16, Thomas Godwin 11 and Brodie Hertel 10.

Tracy Village Jets v Warriors
