Lillian Williams and Michelle Friel were again instrumental in the victory collecting 17 points apiece. The Blues welcomed back prolific scorer Sam Drescher who tallied a game high 21 but no other Blues’s players hit double figures to support her. Ansett held a 31-26 half time lead but were outscored in the second half by the Birds who hit 38 points to just 25 for the Blues. Faye Armstrong from the Eagles also hit double figures with 10.

Lightning v Uni Rebels

Boundry was supported by Chantelle Lee who potted 10 points in the win. Lightning made a solid start to the game to lead by one point at half time 17-16, but after the break the Rebels took control holding the Lightning to only 2 points in the third quarter as the Rebels when on a 12-2 run for a 28-19 lead with a quarter to play. The last quarter was closer, but the Rebels maintained the buffer to run out winners. Tahnee DeSantis led the Lightning with 9 points, all from the three point line.

League Men – Palmerston Power v Tracy Village Jets

Tracy Village Jets knocked off the Palmerston Power 86-55 to grab a share of second place on the ladder with the Power. Five players lit up the scoreboard for the Bombers with Darrin Weetra leading the way with a game high 21. Weetra was helped out by Jayden Adams with 16, Travis Ellis with 15, Alex Weetra on 11 and coach Michael MacLean with 10. The Jets appear to be flexing their muscles and with the addition of Ellis to the lineup they will be a formidable opponent to all clubs in the drive to the finals. Ellis is now just 40 points short of taking over the all-time scoring record in the DBA. Palmerston kept the game close for a half, before they fell apart in the last two quarters when the Bombers put together a 44-18 run to claim the points. Bayi Handy led the Power with 18 points, getting help from Brad Jachmann (12) and Nigel Lockyer (11).

Uni Rebels v Eagles

The league leading Uni Rebels made it three wins in a row with a close fought 71-63 win over the Eagles. Tim Morris from the Rebels led all scorers with 33 points getting back-up from team mate John King who hit 15. Reese Turner, Chris Hart and Henry Bui put together a solid first half to give the Eagles a slim 36-34 half time lead, but the Birds failed to hang on to that momentum in the second half as the Rebels charged home with a 37-27 run that put the game away for them. Eagle newcomer Hart led the Birds with 27 points in his first league game while Turner finished up with 21 and Bui 11.

Razzle v Ansett

Ansett got their first win of the season at Razzle’s expense. The Blues beat the green and gold by 9pts 60-51. It was a close one all the way with the Blues maintaining just enough of a buffer through every quarter to carry them home. Young Matteo Rowse has hit his straps and is now the leading scorer for the Blues this season, averaging 21.5ppg. He hit a game high 21 with Cooper Ehmer and Tom Hunt adding 9 each. Stuart Peace had 12 with Mitchel King & David Carroll chipping in with 10 each.
