League Women – Ansett v Tracy Village Jets

Kylie Duggan and Abby Cubillo combined for 45 points to lead the undefeated Tracy Village Jets to a 102-40 win against Ansett on Friday night at the DBA Stadium. The Jets ran their streak out to 12 in a row without a loss and they did it with ease. Cubillo is leading the league in scoring with a 27.5ppg average and with all-rounder Duggan (13ppg) distributing the ball to eager hands throughout the game the Blues had no chance. The Jets appear to have a clear field ahead of them as no other team has mounted a serious challenge to their domination of the competition. Duggan was high scorer for the game with 23, Cubillo had 22, Tania Dhu hit 17 and court-captain Sam Rioli added 14. Sam Drescher (15ppg) led the Blues with 14.

Lightning v Eagles

Michelle Friel hit a game high 24 points for the Eagles as they rolled over the Lightning 71-27 for their fourth win of the season. The Eagles had to dig in to put away the Lightning as they (Lightning) put up a strong showing in the first quarter to trail by just two points at 14-12 heading into the second quarter. The Eagles stepped up on defense in the second quarter to hold Lighting to just one lone point during a 16-1 run that gave the Birds all the incentive they needed to run out winners. Kimberly Brown chipped in with 19 points in support of Friel (14ppg) while the only Lightning player to reach double figures was Tahnee De Santis with 12.
