League Women –Tracy Village Jets v Lightning

Abby Cubillo lit up the score board again for the Tracy Village Jets as they romped home with an 87-22 win against the Lightning. Cubillo torched the Lightning with a game high 31 points. The Jets powered away in the first quarter with a 19-6 run that put them on the game winning path to their 15th straight victory. By half time the score had blown out to 40-10. Danielle Totham and Tikesa Docherty-Cole hit double figures as well with 13 and 12. The young Lightning side just couldn’t put the brakes on the Jets transition game. Kira Pendlebury top scored for the Lightning with 8.

Ansett v Eagles

Ansett topped the Eagles 64-54 to slip past the Birds thanks the efforts of newcomer Ashton Eaton and Sam Drescher. The game proved tough going for both sides until the last quarter when the Blues lifted to outscore the Birds 13-8 to take out game honours. Blues newcomer Eaton and Drescher combined for all but two of Ansett’s 13 last quarter points to break the game open in their favour. Drescher finished up with 22 points, Eaton 14 and Elizabeth Paice 12. Kimberly Brown led all scorers with a game high 23 for the Eagles and Uni Rebel transfers Jaylene Boundry and her sister Edith lent a hand with 19 and 8.

League Men – Uni Rebels v Ansett

The Uni Rebels and Ansett staged another cracker of a game which went the Rebels way this time as they emerged with a hard fought 92-88 win. The Rebels repaid the Blues for a loss suffered last weekend. Revenge was sweet as Tim Morris, John King and Lance Schmidt put up big numbers for the Rebel win despite a huge effort from Blues man Donte Nicholas who hit a game high 43. Ansett had the game in hand until the last quarter when the Rebels surged back from a 70-64 deficit to overhaul the Blues and claim the points. Morris led the Rebels with 29, King had 26 and Schmidt hit 16. Matteo Rowse was the only other Ansett player in double figures with 20.

Lightning v Eagles

Lightning rattled the Eagles to the tune of 81-65 for their sixth win of the competition. The set-back for the Eagles was a surprise, but the Lightning have always been a threat to pull off an upset to any unsuspecting team. Craig Martin put in one of his best games for the Lightning with a team and game high 31 points and he had plenty of support as the Lightning bench outshined their counterparts in the Eagle camp. The Lightning had built up a 34-24 half time lead, lost a bit in the third quarter as the Eagles grabbed the momentum and rallied to get within 5 points at 55-50. However, that momentum left the Birds and shifted to the Lightning who bolted away in the last quarter with a 26-15 run to put the game on ice. Martin hit 14 of his total in the last quarter. James Silvie led the Eagles with 22, Chris Hart had 17 and Reece Turner hit 12.

Razzle v Tracy Village Jets

Alex Weetra guided the Tracy Village Jets to their seventh win of the season, a 64-40 win over the Razzle. Weetra hit a game high 15 points with Sam White 12 and Darrin Weetra 11 lending support. The Razzle only trailed by seven at half time 35-28 but put in a woeful second half to drop off dramatically as the Bombers scooted away during a 29-12 run for the victory. William McClay led the green and gold with 11.
