Preliminary Final Results

League Women – Eagles v Uni Rebels

The Eagles used a huge third quarter revival to defeat the Uni Rebels 56-45 in the Preliminary Final Friday night to set up a rematch with the Tracy Village Jets in the Grand Final tonight. The Birds had to stage another come from behind victory to get the chance and they did it big time. Trailing 22-18 at half time the Birds claimed the upper hand with a 22-9 run in the third quarter to put themselves in the driver’s seat to advance to the GF. Danielle Ponter, Edith Boundry and Ambah Kowcun had given the Rebels a solid start in the first half, but the wheels fell off in the second half as the Eagles went into overdrive to claim the victory. The Leagues all- time leading scorer, Trish Graham, led all scorers with another 20 point game and she had help from Michelle Friel with 11 and Lillian Williams 10. All three will need to fire tonight against the Jets if they are to succeed in doing something no team has done for the last 26 and that is beat them. For the Rebels Ponter finished with 12 and Boundry & Kowcun hit 8 each.

Ladder:                                                             Tracy Village Jets 21-0, Eagles 14-8, Uni Rebels 12-9-1, Ansett 6-15, Lightning 6-14 & Razzle 4-16
