Round 10

League Women – Thursday – Tracy Village Jets v Uni Rebels

Tikesa Docherty-Cole & Kylie Duggan combined for 50 points as they spearheaded a Tracy Village Jets attack that overwhelmed the Uni Rebels 82-42. Twenty-five points each from Docherty-Cole and Duggan buried the Rebels as the Jets extended their winning streak out to 17 in a row. Even though the Jets were short-handed player-wise they still got the job done. Delsey Ah Wang added 21 for the Jets while Tiahne Clarke led the Rebels with 15, Chantelle Lee 11 and Edith Boundry 10.

Palmerston Power v Razzle

Brittany Ward led the Palmerston Power to a big 69-33 win over a lackluster Razzle outfit that really struggled to put the ball in the hoop. Ward led the Power with 15 and got help from Lillian Willams (11) and Rebecca Thorne (10). Saranya Rajkumar was the only Razzle player to reach double figures with 10. The Power remain entrenched in second place on the ladder with a 5 win 3 loss record.

Eagles v Ansett

Faye Armstrong led a contingent of Eagles in double figures to a narrow 56-52 victory over Ansett for their third win in a row. The win put the Eagles into fourth place on the ladder with a game in hand. After struggling in the early rounds the Birds seem to be putting it all together for a run at the playoffs. With Michelle Friel back in action and Bronte Hewett and Armstrong helping out Trish Graham in the scoring department things are looking much more hopeful for the Eagles. Armstrong finished with 14, Friel 13, Hewett 12 and Graham 10. Tamara Sheppard again led the Blues with 15 and Elizabeth Pace hit 12.

Men

League Men – Palmerston Power v Razzle

The Palmerston Power took a ½ game lead at the top of the table with an easy 91-71 win over the Razzle on Thursday night. The Green & Gold found themselves floundering behind the Power 22-13 after one quarter of play and never gained any momentum trying to overhaul the Power from that point onward. They did put in a better second half, but by then it was much too late. Jesse Bell (25), Aaron Simpson (14), Fisto Bizima (14) & Thomas Godwin (12) accounted for most of the Power points while Kayden Malseed (13), Nathan Radonich (12) & David Carroll (10) led the Razzle.

Eagles v Ansett

The Eagles slipped into third place with a close and hard fought win over Ansett 79-74. The Birds had to hold off a fast finishing Blues mob though to claim the victory. After building up a 60-46 three quarter lead the Eagles had to hang on in the last quarter as the Blues put together a 28-19 run to finish off the game. Brad Davis & Chad Keightley led that charge and after a 3pt shot by Cameron McKenzie with 36 seconds left for a 75-74 score line favouring the Birds the game was up for grabs. The Eagles responded to the wake-up call with free throws from Shane Harrison, Joseph Johnson and 2 by Joseph Prophet to eventually run out winners. Johnson finished up leading the Birds with a game high 30. Prophet added 16. Davis led the Blues with 24, McKenzie had 11 and Keightley & Ross Vasic each had 10.

Tracy Village Jets v Uni Rebels

The Uni Rebels blew the short-handed Tracy Village Jets out of the water with a 107-75 win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Rebels took advantage of the lack of players the Jets fielded (they only had 5). No mercy was shown as the Rebels ran over the Bombers. JB Pillard III hit 45 points (after scoring 57 in the previous round!) to lead the Rebels, Bradley Radovich & Hamill hit 18 each and Jake Kirby had 11. Jake Geer led the Bombers with 27, Darrin Weetra had 22, Henry Callender & Henry Bui had 12 each.
