The Bombers wasted no time in setting the stage for this win, they had 10pts on the board before the Eagles scored and led 24-9 at the end of the first quarter promising more to come for the rest of the game. The Eagles stepped up in the second quarter, but they still trailed 40-23 at the half. In the second half it was the Bombers all the way. Duggan finished up with a game high 23 with Sam Rioli (15.5ppg) adding 19 and Tikesa Docherty-Cole 16 @ 17.8ppg. Trish Graham (12.8ppg) & Kristina Martinson hit 15 each for the Eagles.

Men

League Men – Eagles v Lightning

The Eagles soared past the grounded Lightning 100-77 to book passage through to the Grand Final. The Birds lost out in last year’s Challenge Season GF and are looking to make amends. The Lightning were clearly outclassed in this match-up. Joseph Prophet was on fire in the second quarter for the Birds, hitting 18 of his 26 points to help the Eagles to a very handy 61-36 half time lead. Joseph Johnson & Reece Turner were also stacking points onto the lead during the explosive first half. The Lightning regrouped to play the Eagles even in the third quarter, but they were not making much headway. The normally free scoring Craig Martin was held to just 9 points, well below his 27.3ppg average. The Lightning now has to put the train back on the track for their Preliminary Final encounter with the Palmerston Power next Friday at 8pm. Johnson (30ppg) led the Eagles with 27, Turner (11ppg) added 19 and Jarrod Sheppard 16 @ 19.4ppg (including 4 treys).
