EAGLES have knocked Rebels off the top of the Darwin Basketball Association women's league ladder with a two-point victory.  Eagles won 55-53 at Darwin Basketball Stadium, with Patricia Graham (photo) scoring a match-high 21 points.  The wet season premiers trailed the defending dry season champs by three points entering the last term.  But Graham got the upper hand with 11 points in the last quarter.  She sank a three-pointer and then, with Katherine Hollis, iced the game from the foul line.  It was Eagles' fifth straight victory of the Championship Season.  They are now equal second on the ladder with Eagles, one point behind Lightning.  Just six points separate the top five sides in the league.

Scoring machines Claire O'Bryan (22 points) and Tamara Sheppard (21) propelled Lightning to an 82-41 win against Jets.

Ansett beat Warriors 69-50 and now have fourth spot outright.  With a league best 318 points at 26.50 going into the game, Ansett's Sam Drescher notched 22 points.  US import Nina Randle finished with 15 to maintain her average through three games.

Mens League

In men's league, second-placed Jets notched their fifth straight victory downing third-placed Lightning 102-60.  Five
players notched double figures for Jets led by Dan East (33 points),
Matt Fagg (21), Travis Ellis (17), Liam Maclachlan (13) and Michael
MacLean (12).  Lightning's loss, its third in succession, saw it slip to fourth place behind Warriors.

Led by captain Bayi Handy with 34 points, Warriors decked Ansett 82-57.

Top side Rebels stretched its winning streak to 11 games with a 109-75 defeat of Eagles.  It
was the fifth time this season that Rebels had accumulated more than
100 points and they lead the league with 40 points after 14 games.  Rebels' Nick Freer and Eagles' Timmy Duggan hit an equal-match high 32 points.  But Rebels' Daniel Baglia (26), captain Marcus Ch'ng (16) and Jarrod Sheppard (10) contributed significantly.
