League MEN –Tracy Village Jets v Eagles

Minor premiers Tracy Village Jets overcame another challenge to their perfect record by dispatching of the Eagles 79-62 in the only men’s game played Saturday night at the DBA Stadium at Mararra. A full round of games was to be played but prior commitments by two teams meant forfeits to the opposing teams. The Warriors and Razzle failed to front up in their respective games against the Uni Rebels and Lightning. However the one game that was played proved to be a good contest between the Jets and Eagles. Travis Ellis posted another double-double with a team high 24 points and 13 rebounds, while young Brad East hit a personal high of 19 points. It didn’t come easy as the Jets had to ignite the ‘afterburners’ in the second half in order to pull away from a persistent Eagle outfit intent on upset. The score at half time was 30-30. Buster Perkins led all scorers with 32, but only one other Eagle managed to get into double digits with Shane Harrison notching up 14. After the major break the Bombers lifted their defense and went on to out score the Eagles 49-32 in the second half despite the efforts of Perkins and Harrison. Michael MacLean added support for the Jets with 11pts.
