Mundine Up For Live Longer Moonlight Challenge

In a major announcement, three time world boxing champion, Anthony “The Man” Mundine will participate in the Live Longer Hoops 4 Health Moonlight Challenge. As the official patron of Hoops 4 Health Aboriginal Corporation, Mundine regularly attends functions and events to promote healthy lifestyles to youth in Darwin.

 

The Live Longer Moonlight Challenge will take place at Lake Leanyer Basketball Courts on Thursday 23rd August from 5pm. The event will be in held in partnership with the Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Services, Darwin City Council’s Healthy Darwin Program and the YMCA.

 

Mundine said:

“Living a healthy lifestyle is what I do, so I try and convey that to the youth. Through my profile and becoming a World Champion I try and give children an understanding that by not drinking and smoking and by believing in yourself, you can do anything. I encourage all young people and their parents to attend this event.”

 

Teams from Warruwi (Goulburn Island), Minjalang (Croker Island) and players from Darwin including Sammi Rioli, Delsey Ahwang and Keisha Tinley will be playing. Coupled with special guests Olympian, Nova Peris, Bo De La Cruz and former NBA Player Andre Moore, the Moonlight Challenge will be a fun event.

 

Spectators are encouraged to attend the drug and alcohol free event and whilst watching they can receive a free health check. The event is to promote awareness of the effects of chronic disease and putting in place preventative measures to ensure that education and resources are accessible to all.

 

The actual Moonlight Challenge will be an informal game MC’d by the former voice of the Sydney Kings, Rodney Overby. Entry is free.
