The Uni Rebels sent Palmerston packing for the third time this season with another dominant team effort that culminated in a 70-38 victory. Eighteen points to Delsey Ah Wang (10.5ppg), 17 to Tamara Sheppard, 11 for Lucy Adam and 9 for court captain Jaylene Boundry. Adam led a 16-8 first quarter run before Ah Wang ignited a 25-9 run in the second quarter, hitting 11 of her game total. After the break the Power played the Rebels even in the third quarter behind the showing from Christine Cooper (12) and Melissa Charlton, but the fourth quarter was all Rebels again as they pulled further away for the win.

Ansett v Lightning

Lightning dismantled a short-handed Ansett side that was missing leading scorer Sam Drescher (18.5ppg), among others from the match. Lightning won the match 58-22. They wasted no time in asserting their control over the game as they bolted out to a 13-4 first quarter lead. They led at the half 28-17. Then they put the game on ice with an overpowering 12-1 run in the third quarter for a 40-18 lead with a quarter to play. Two back to back treys from Emma Carbone finished off the Blues as time slipped away. Carbone (6.3ppg) led Lightning with a season high 19 (including 5 treys) followed by Deearne Lee on 17 and Lucy Murray with 10. Chelsea Cook was the lone standout for the Blues with 13.

League Men –Ansett v Eagles

The Blues pipped the Eagles at the post in a highly entertaining game that might be a preview of the Grand Final at the end of this competition. Ansett beat the Eagles 66-65 after John King drew a foul with only seconds remaining in the game. He went to the line and converted 1 of 2 free throws for the win. Only seconds earlier in the lead up to King’s heroics Eagle guard Jarrod Sheppard had dropped in a trey to tie the game up at 65 all, but during the ensuing play phase King rebounded a missed shot and pump faked enough to draw an Eagle foul to get to the charity stripe. The Eagles had shot out to a 20-9 first quarter lead and boosted it in the second quarter to lead 34-21 at the half. The Blues charged out in the third quarter with Daniel Florance leading the way during a 26-12 run that gave the Blues a 47-46 lead heading into the last quarter. It was even pegging for the quarter with the Blues grabbing the points at the finish. King (21.4ppg) took game high scoring honour’s with 25, Florance (22.3ppg) had 14 and Jake Feeney added 11. Sheppard (16.3ppg) led the Eagles with 20, Louis Ilton (16.9ppg) had 18 and Buster Perkins helped out with 15.

Tracy Village Jets v Palmerston

The Jets from Tracy Village broke their drought against the Palmerston Power with a convincing 84-55 win against a lackluster Power that failed to generate any rhythm during the game. The Bombers dropped their first two games against the Power this season, but got their game together for this one with Travis Ellis (12.6ppg) dropping in 26 points, Jake Geer 16 and Michael MacLean & Christopher Amitrano adding 12 each. The Bombers managed to hold the Powers top scorer, Jesse Bell, to just 7 points for the encounter. Bell has an average of 21.9ppg. Leading the way for the Power was former Jet Aaron Simpson who hit 12. Robbie Wilson added 10 and Shaquille Hohipa-Wilson had 10. It was a top defensive effort from the Bombers to keep the Power under their 70 point game average.

Uni Rebels v Razzle

Jake Kirby (5.2ppg) and Matt Fagg (12.1ppg) hit 25 points each to lead the Uni Rebels to a thumping 114-50 win against the luckless green and gold from Razzle. The Rebels left the Razzle well in arrears after an explosive 36-11 first quarter outburst led by Kirby and Jermaine Lattimer. From that point onwards all the Razzle could do was try to slow down the Rebels. Lattimer finished up with 21 points and Matt Van Pelt chipped in with 18. Robert Oliver (12.4ppg) stood out for the Razzle with a game high 30 and James Panton had 11.

Ladder:                                            Eagles 10-2, Palmerston 8-3, Tracy Village Jets 7-3, Ansett 6-5, Uni Rebels 5-6, Lightning 2-8 & Razzle 0-11
