League Women – Tracy Village Jets v Eagles

The minor premier Tracy Village Jets kept the Eagles pretty much on the ground in this match-up, winning the encounter by 41 points 96-55. Jet Kylie Duggan was on fire, nailing a game and League high 38 points to lead the Jets into yet another Grand Final. The Jets will be shooting for their fourth consecutive Championship Season win when they line up next Saturday at the DBA Stadium. The DBA’s Most Valuable Player, Sam Rioli, added 15 points in support with Frances Fatnowna hitting 10. Rioli also hit another milestone in her DBA career with her 400th League game. Men

League Men – Uni Rebels v Tracy Village Jets

The Uni Rebels are back in the hunt for another Grand Final after defeating the Tracy Village Jets 79-73 in the Men’s Preliminary Final. The game lived up to the pre-game hype of being a close one. There was never more than six points separating the teams and that margin was a winning one for the Rebels. With 3:17 remaining in the game the Jets held a 70-68 lead, but after a timeout the Rebels scored seven unanswered points to take a 75-70 lead that the Jets could not overcome. With 40 seconds left the Jets got within two points at 75-73 when Jai O’Shaughnessy hit two free throws, but that was the last gasp for the Jets as first Thomas Uppena and then Tyler Jefferson both hit two free throws from the stripe to seal the game for the Rebels. Uppena top scored for the Rebels with 22, David Ronchi hit 15 and Jefferson and Jake Kirby had 14 each. Travis Ellis led the Jets with a game high 34 with Michael MacLean adding 17 and Rohan Cropley 10. The Rebels will be looking for a ‘repeat’ Grand Final win with only Palmerston standing in their way.

Uni Rebel Marcus Ch’ng was named the Men’s League Most Valuable Player

Ladder:        Uni Rebels 13-5, Palmerston Power 12-5, Tracy Village Jets 10-8, Eagles 8-8, Ansett 6-9, Lightning 6-8 & Razzle 1-13
