The Midweek Pennant season kicked off today with an unbelievable result.....all teams up and all sides up! Selection was all smiles, and that’s good, it is indeed (I’m just guessing here) a feat not replicated many if any times before? This year is going to be a strange one as like “fish out of water” we establish a water level that suits us.
Div. 1 Section 4 (Ladies/Only) played Berwick 2 at Berwick and came home victors by 18. (Cousens +2, Overson +13 and Williams, in a debut appearance as Skip, + 3.) Well done on today’s effort! Div.1 Section 5 (Ladies Only) played Mulgrave C.C. 3 at home and showed their metal winning by 25! (Lockhart +7, Thacker +14 and Webber +4.) End result 65-40 +25. Div. 1 Section 6 (Ladies Only) played Beaumaris 2 at home and really took it up a level winning by 32! (Cheshire +20, Paula Baird +5 and Scown +7.) End result 74-42 +32. Div. 3 Section 6 (Mixed) played Narre Warren 2 at Narre Warren, on their very nice synthetic, winning by 28! (Bryant +8, Cousens +18 and Steele +2.) End result 72- 44 +28. Congrats to Alan & team of Rae Gibbs, Heather Redpath and Norm Overson on your 7 on the 4th end! (No one will tell me who was not in there.......but I’m hoping that it was the back bowl.....god bless the back bowl!) “Winners of the drinks” were Barb Cheshire and her team of Leila Hanna, Shirley Liddicoat and Barbara Etheridge who won by 20 at home to Beaumaris.
The draws for the Mixed Sets Play Pairs (Rd 1 next Sunday 30/9) and the Ladies Pairs (Rd 1 next Thursday week 4/10), are on site under "Club Games".
