Pete's Roundup!
Edithvale Bowling Club had a positive start to the season, with three of its four teams winning on Saturday. After the rain cleared at 2pm, play was uninterrupted until the end. The firsts had a strong 24 shot win over Coatesville. Albert Chung’s side had an even match early, before they powered away to win by 16 shots. Similarly, John Bryant’s side was trailling 6-9 before they went on a 21-3 run. Billy Morton’s crew had the close game, with Billy doing some glorious saves in the run home to clinch a 1 shot win. Peter Woodbridge’s side struggled all day, working their way back into the game after a slow start.
The seconds had a 7 shot win at Cranbourne, with Ray Costolloe’s side clawing their way back from 4-12 to win 22-15. The thirds lost to Bentleigh by 34 shots, with only Norm Overson’s side offering any resistance. The fifths defeated Parkdale by 6 shots, with Frank Baguley’s side winning by 16 shots. Both the fourths and sixths were washed out.
