Oaks Day was not a day for the Fillies! 8/11/12.

Sadly our Div 1, Sections 4 & 5 fillies did not pass the winning post first today but in consolation have not (my early guesstimate) lost their 1st and 5th positions on the Ladder! So don’t let it get you down as Sect. 4 played 2nd on the Ladder Boronia (at Edi) and Sect. 5 played away to Boronia who also occupy 2nd position on that Ladder.

Lisa Williams and team were up there with +9 for the drinks winning 26-17 at home. (would it be enough?) Pauline Cousens and team were down 13, winning only 7 ends for the day (11-24). Barb Overson and team had a close one all day, but picking up 4 over the final 4 ends sealed it for the opposition. (13-18).

DIV 1 SEC 4 - Women: Cranbourne 15-66 Mt Waverley 1-50, Edithvale 2-50 Boronia 14-59, Lilydale 12-53 Doncaster 2 4-45, Mulgrave CC 2 2-59 Waverley Golf 14-68, Berwick 2 14-68 Glen Waverley 3 2-54.

In Div 1 Sect. 5 Joan Lockhart & team were the only winners at +5 against Boronia at Boronia, Judith Thacker and team won 9 ends, 3 in the last 4 ends to go down by -7. Suzanne Webber and team had a very sad day scoring on only 6 ends.

DIV 1 SEC 5 - Women: Waverley Golf 2 14-80 Mulgrave CC 3 2-53, Boronia 2 14-66 Edithvale 2 2-46, Glen Waverley 4 2-45 Berwick 3 14-69, Cheltenham 2-50 Cranbourne 2 14-74, Beaumaris 0-0 Bye 0-0.

Our open side had a good day however......but only in the last 3-4 ends overall, an excellent turnaround! Alan Cousens and team came from down at the break to win almost all ends after 23-14. Similarly, for Pamela Bryant and team who were down 3 at the break, but up 7 at the end 23-16. Rob Steele and team had their first loss of the season, courtesy of Cranbourne lead (friend of Bill Morton) Dick St Ruth who played, assisted by Oxygen and a Walker and put in a blinder!.............ain’t that just grand! Yep... his yellow bowls were all over the jack for most of the day. (Glad I didn't have to face that one!). It was 1st on the Ladder (us) against 2nd on the Ladder them ( Cranbourne 4.) Well done!  (P.S. I got a whisper from a rabbit, that things went on the up for Alan when his team finally got up the nerve to ask Normie to close his fly?, seems it was detracting them from the job at hand.) The fly, once closed lifted spirits and the team went on to win by 9, and the drinks by percentage.

DIV 3 SEC 6 - Open: Edithvale 4 14-56 Cranbourne 4 2-53, Noble Park 3 0-48 Hampton Park 2 16-72, Willow Lodge 14-63 Keysborough 2 2-54, Glen Eira McKinnon 2 15-76 Dandenong RSL Rec 2 1-46, Cardinia Waters 2 14-60 Narre Warren 2 2-43.
