Pete's Roundup!

Edithvale Bowling Club had a good day on Saturday, with four of their six sides enjoying victory. The firsts experienced their first defeat of the season, coming up 2 shots short on the tough Hampton RSL synthetic. Albert Chung’s team turned a 3-8 deficit into a 15-10 lead, before finishing up all square. John Bryant’s four, with Harold Ritchie again leading brilliantly, lost a seesawing match on the last end. Billy Morton’s team spent the entire match just behind their opponents, and finished 4 shots down, while Peter Woodbridge’s crew led for most of the day and finished strongly to just get over the line.

The seconds had a strong 33 shot win against Berwick, with Norm Lewis weaving his magic with a multitude of conversions. Don Chambers’ team also provided handy support. The thirds were well beaten at Black Rock, with only John Cracknell’s team providing any resistance. The fourths had a commanding home win against Berwick, riding on the back of Peter Brain’s 36 shot win. This included a 6 and four 5s. The fifths lost by 15 shots to Bentleigh, with Bernie Hambridge’s crew winning their last four ends to turn a 5 shot lead into a 14 shot win. This included a classy 5. The sixths just got over the line thanks to Jeanette Barrett’s four having a strong win.
