The Final of the Ladies Pairs for 2012-13 was played today on the beautifully prepared and free running Ken Lee Green. The usual supporters were there to cheer them on and they were delightfully entertained by the quality of play on both sides of the draw.

Trish Eastwood and Joan Lockhart got the jump, picking up a 2 and a 3 on the first 2 ends. Barb Overson and Pat Gilhooly then returned with a single before a pattern emerged whereby they would lose the next 3, win one, and then lose the next 3 again. At the 10^th end Joan & Trish were up 17-3. In a great comeback however Barb & Pat rallied picking up 1, 3, 3, 2, and 3 in consecutive ends to be in touch 15-17 on the 15^th. Trish and Joan responded over the last 3 ends with a 1, 5, and 2 to have the title “in the bag” on the 18^th. Final score 25-15. It was a great game, and a long one, played in great friendship...well done all.

In the last Quarter Final of the Mens Pairs, played this afternoon, John Clark (Lead) & Michael Cameron (Skip)  finished on 15  and  Bill White (Lead) & Walter Trupke (Skip) finished on 12

John and Michael ran away early in the game on a very fast green, Bill and Walter were able to catch up somewhat but were not good enough in the end.

The Men's Semi Finals are on this Sunday.

Midweek selection was done today and Saturday selectors are still in dire need of more players. Please think of your Club and your fellow Club Members who will either have to play a player short and cop a 25% penalty or not play at all (in which case the Club (your Club!) will incur a hefty fine and also let down 16 other players from an opposing club.
