A pinch and a punch...and warm humid day for all on the 1st Dec ’12.
“Pete’s roundup"
Edithvale Bowling Club had its worst day for the season on Saturday, with only one of their six sides tasting victory. The firsts succumbed to Armadale by 51 shots in a disappointing display in their top-of-the-table clash, and will have to dig deep to bounce back next week. Albert Chung’s team was just down at the halfway mark, but lost the last 7 ends to lose by 17 shots. John Bryant’s four led at the turn, but after they dropped a 7 the match began to slip away. Billy Morton’s team were up early, but also fell away to lose by 8 shots. Peter Woodbridge’s crew were outplayed all day and lost by 16 shots.
The seconds also had a tough day, losing at home to Pakenham by 25 shots. Only Ray Costolloe Jr’s team offered any real resistance, picking up a 5 mid-game to swing the momentum their way. The thirds were also well beaten, this time at Chelsea, with Normie Overson’s crew shooting out to an 11 shot lead, and hanging on to win by 6 shots. The fourths provided the sole triumph for the day, annihilating Waverley Golf at home by 67 shots. Both Joan Lockhart and Joe Musco’s fours went on a scoring spree, both racking up eleven multiples for the day. The fifths lost a close match against SOC, with Roger Williams enjoying his first pennant victory as a skipper. The sixths lost narrowly to Glen Waverley, with Jeanette Barrett’s team just in front. Edithvale will be looking for a big improvement next Saturday.
