Owing to the forecast possibility of very hot conditions in the Metropolitan area for this Saturday’s round of Pennant Matches, all members and clubs are reminded of what the rules applying to inclement weather are regarding temperatures, etc.
For Country Divisions/Regions members and clubs are reminded to refer to their local rules regarding temperatures, etc.
Club administrators and Side Managers should be fully acquainted with Rule 10E for Metropolitan Pennant and Rule 14F for Division/Region Pennant.

E Inclement Weather
In this Rule "weather" means wet weather and excessive heat.
(i) For Saturday Metropolitan Pennant Premier, Division 1-8, if the actual dry bulb temperature recorded at the Melbourne Bureau of Meteorology has reached 38 degrees Celsius at 11:00am or 12.30pm on the Pennant day then the BV Metropolitan Pennant Committee will abandon all Pennant for the day. Following commencement of a game a Club will make further reference to the Melbourne Bureau of Meteorology at 3:00pm and if the temperature recorded at 3:00pm is 38 degrees Celsius or above all Pennant will be abandoned. If the match is abandoned by the BV Metropolitan Pennant Committee at 11.00 am or 12.30 pm Rule 8D(ii)(a)(i) will apply. If the match is abandoned before or during play, Rules 8D(ii)(a)(ii) and 8D(ii)(a)(iii) will apply.
For Saturday Metropolitan Pennant Divisions 9 & 10, if the actual dry bulb temperature recorded at the Melbourne Bureau of Meteorology has reached 34 degrees Celsius or over at 11.00am or 12.30pm, all Saturday Pennant Division 9 & 10 matches shall be abandoned. Following commencement of a game the Side Captains should telephone the weather bureau at 3.00pm. If the Melbourne City temperature recorded at that time is 34 degrees Celsius or over all Pennant will be abandoned. If the match is abandoned by the BV Metropolitan Pennant Committee at 11.00 am or 12.30 pm Rule 8D(ii)(a)(i) will apply. If the match is abandoned before or during play, Rules 8D(ii)(a)(ii) and 8D(ii)(a)(iii) will apply.
Stay tuned for Pennant Messages...if you can handle the heat and can play, but have not been selected....let the Selectors know, if you can’t handle the heat and you have been selected ...let the Selectors know EARLY, i.e. before 10am!
