Edithvale Bowling Club had a mixed day on Saturday, with three out of five sides winning.
The firsts went to Richmond Union in a three v four clash, but came home with a severe loss. Billy Morton’s team continued their fine form, dominating early to be up 7-0, before the match evened out into a draw. Albert Chung’s team started slowly, and never really recovered to lose by 20 shots. Peter Woodbridge’s crew had a tight game early, but dropped seven ends in a row under intense pressure and also lost badly. Ray Costolloe Jr’s four came out firing for an early lead, picked up a 5 and a 6 but gave up a 4 and four 3s in a high scoring narrow loss. Now clinging to fourth place on the ladder, the firsts will have to dig deep to ensure they make the finals.

It was a bye for our Div 6 Sect 6 but they did put in a really good practice session to be there till stumps (It was pretty even at the break....was no one’s saying who one!)

Div 6 Sect 7 had a good day in getting 2 rinks up “enough” to snaffle a 14 point 4 shot win. Terry Cheshire and team won 13 of their 21 ends including 2/5’s and a 4, finishing 13 up (27-14) while Paul G & team went even better winning 15 of 21 ends to be 15 up (26-11) at home against Chelsea 2 who are in 7th position on the ladder. Bernie Hambridge and team also put in a great performance to go just 1 down after the lead was taken off them by way of a 3 from the opposition on the last. Bad luck, but well done in bringing about a win! (Chelsea is 2 above us on the Ladder). We are closing in and hopefully will avoid relegation! Hat’s off to you lot, for your persistence and perseverance, which is now paying off.

The Ladies struggled today at home on the synthetic to a very determined Berwick, intent on grabbing a top 4 spot at our expense. They haven’t managed it yet, but could.Berwick put forth solid performances to win 24-10 against Kaye Cramond and team and 25-13 against Jeanette Barrett and team. Keep your heads high...we know you can do it.
