EBC’s Singles Champions represented their Club today in a knockout, first to 25 up, in the Sandbelt Region Champion of Champions.
For Pamela Bryant it was over in 1 round at the hands of Pat Lyons of Black Rock. Pam and Pat have met twice this season at Hampton (their first meeting was in the over sixties, sorry Pat, if no one knows you’ve reached that milestone/millstone!) so now it’s “one” each. But it was emphatic win today for Pat (25-13) as she consistently out drew her opponent (me). Pat we need a decider (!) see you next year, in the over 60’s.
For John Clark, what began as an excellent display of draw bowling, which found him 19-12 up at one stage, turned into a real challenge as R Lamb of S.O.C. got “into a groove” for a few ends in the latter stages.
Going into the last end John found himself 24-22 up and 1 down on the head following a three down at the head, a one up, then a one down, and as he can do; he drew the most magnificent last bowl to steal the shot and the game. So Edithvale does have a representative in next Sunday’s Round 3, and the venue will be Murrumbeena Park, starting at 10am...be there! John is most likely to play G Pomerantz of Elsternwick Club who was pushed to win after being 11 up at one stage but won finished only 25/21 up against Malvern’s Wayne Martin, who really thrilled the gallery.
