Now it's 4 sides up as Div 1 has their 1st win! 7/11

It was 4 Sides up today! And that’s especially good as one of them was the 1st side (Div 1) and another, the 5th Side (Div 7), both of whom went up a Division this year.

Div 1 are now only 2 points away from getting off the bottom of their ladder, and have had their first win (against second bottom), gaining 14 points and 15 shots. Bill Morton’s rink top scored 33-19 (+14), Peter Woodbridge was next 24-21(+3), Albert Chung and Ray K Costolloe were both down, but by just 1 shot.  It was picturesque venue with a free running green and a flukey wind. Well done to you all. I hope you remember that winning feeling and do it again, soon! Final score 100-85 for 14 points and +15

   DIV 1 SEC 3: Heathmont 4-85 Edithvale 14-100,Burden Park 14-99 Vermont South 4-87,Clayton 2 14-98 Lilydale 4-94,Coatesville 2-70 Richmond Union 16-100,

                                      Burwood District 16-106 Montmorency 2-91.

Div 3 had an even better win against Bentleigh at home. Neil MacLean and rink, Peter Brain, Jason Exton and Graeme Linley won 41-13 (+28) but didn’t get the drinks. Kevin Breen was up 33-25 (+8), Tom Preston down11-24 (-13) and Glen Baskett up 33-18 (+15) Final score 118-80 for 16 points and +38

    DIV 3 SEC 7: Parkdale 14-101 Hampton Park 4-92, Edithvale 2 16-118 Bentleigh 2 2-80, Mulgrave CC 4 16-105 Glen Eira McK 2 2-64, Mordialloc 2 2-90 Noble Park 2 16-95,

Berwick 5 14-101 Cranbourne 3 4-91.

Div 5 were all down at Hampton RSL, and perhaps just out bowled on the day, (remember however next time you meet it will on our greens – so start plotting now!)

Final score 75-126, no points for -61. (Ouch!)

    DIV 5 SEC 7: Coatesville 3 15-95 Pakenham 4 3-85,Hampton RSL 2 18-136 Edithvale   3 0-75,Hampton Park 2 14-95 Richmond Union 3 4-84,Highett n/a Glen Eira McK 4 n/a

Dandenong Club 3 16-131 Armadale 5 2-61.

Div 6 had the best win of all at home on “C” green against Chelsea. Barry Bertram +3, Joe Musco +9, Sonny Watson +31.25 and Ray Costolloe a massive +35! With Ray was lead, Ian Wilding, second, Phil Westmore and third, Bill Dryden (44-9). A birdie tells me that this win was achieved by some good bowls, good team work & an inordinate amount of luck. Who cares....it looks good on the resume, and it did parch a thirst. Yes they got the drinks (really they deserved two as they also got an eight!) Perhaps this win might end up being the best of the year so congratulations to all. (I hope they got 2 drinks!)

    DIV 6 SEC 7: Noble Park 4 18-147 Hampton 4 0-50, Sandringham 2 16-110 Parkdale   2 2-80, Mentone 4 16-103 Waverley Golf 3 2-84, Burden Park 4 16-104 Bentleigh 3 2-75,

Edithvale 4 18-130 Chelsea 2 0-51.75.

Div 7 We shared the Hampton RSL Synthetic with our Div 5 teammates, though fared better on the scoreboard. Best rink here was Noel McLaren’s 34-19 (+15) with Michael Parker leading well in his first game for the season. Don Shields won 26-14, Pam Bryant 25-16 (Sally King played a blinder, well done Sally!) and Terry Cheshire 25-20.  Final score 110-69 (+41) but most importantly they picked up 18 points (enough to move them above 3rd on the ladder, perhaps) and 41 shots to boot!

  DIV 7 SEC 7: Willow Lodge 2-82 Sandringham 3 16-102, Hampton RSL 3 0-69   Edithvale 5 18-110, Keysborough 4 14-88.75 Cheltenham 6 4-81, St Kilda 4 14-96

 Black Rock 3 4-81.25, Parkdale 3 18-15 Coatesville 5 0-0.
