MATCH REPORT - ROUND 18 - SUNDAY 19TH AUGUST 2012

UNDER 18/2’s: Game forfeited by Camden.

2ND DIVISION: Moss Vale kicked off, and with strong defence, Bundanoon turned over the ball and with the first touch, Brad Meenie ran around the defence to score out-wide, Moss Vale 4 – 0. A great 40 – 20 by Brad Meuleman saw Brad Meenie score his second try, from a scrum move, Mossy 10 – 0. A try to Brad Maloney, after another scrum, and Moss Vale were ahead 16 – 0. Bundy’s defence was paper thin and their coach, Brett Breeze, must have wondered what the score would end up. Brad Meuleman put a chip kick over the defence, to put Brett Cumming to re-gather and run away to score, after a juggling act that could get him a job in the circus, Moss Vale 22 – 0. Moss Vale fell into bad habits after this try, attempting to score off every ruck and losing the ball. The frustration saw them gift Bundanoon cheap penalties. This extra possession, and a hard running Paul Quigg, saw Bundy score and trail 22 – 6. A comedy of errors by both sides, neither respecting possession for the next 10 minutes, and it looked like no-one wanted the ball in their hands. Brad Meuleman injured his knee and was carried from the field, something Mossy doesn’t need at the moment. Bundanoon’s line defence had gotten better with, Moss Vale finding it hard to make metres. A knock-on by Bundy saw Kerrod Morris with the ball in his hands, take off up the short side and streak away to score. Moss Vale needed this try to get back on track, Moss Vale 28 – 6 at half time. Bundanoon lifted early in the second half defending well, however, a mistake by them, saw Mitch Fitzgerald, in only his second game of grade, score a try under the posts, Mossy 34 – 6. A strong run by Brett Cumming, saw him score under the posts as well, and Moss Vale were well and truly back on track, Mossy 34 – 6. Another strong run by Cummo and he scored under the posts again, Moss Vale 40 – 6 and the game looking very similar to last time these teams met. Moss Vale were really on top now and when Blair Palmer took the ball metres from the line, no-one was going to stop him scoring a try, Mossy 46 – 6. The last try resulted from another strong run by Cummo and a deft pass to Isaiah Martin, to score in the corner, Mossy 50 - 6. Thank you to the four Under 18’s for giving the team a lift, with so many injuries. Three of the boys scored tries and the future for Moss Vale looks bright with such talented boys coming through, the fourth being Jack Buckley.  Written by M. Sutherland and T. Mitchell
