A note from the President
I would like to put a stop to the rumours and innuendo doing the rounds that the Laverton Magpies Football Club is on the verge of collapse. To the people who want to put the knife in and continue to talk us down: we are here to stay.
The Laverton Magpies Football Club has 89 years of history and tradition that doesn’t just happen. We have a loyal, committed and passionate supporter base from all walks of life; it is this tireless group of followers that will continue to support the club regardless of the position the club sits on the ladder.
The culture of the football club has changed over the past few years by becoming a more family-friendly club. A large part of this was due to the introduction of the ‘code of conduct’ of which the playing group had significant input. The players outlined the values and behaviours that they, and the club as a whole body, see as important and essential to our success. Since its introduction there has been a marked improvement in the way the club is now viewed by the wider community. The successful formation of the Laverton Magpies Ladies Club in 2011 goes from strength to strength with Laverton Magpies Football Club recognising the wives, partners and their friends as being an integral part to the future success of club.
We successfully ran an Auskick program in 2012 run under the banner of Laverton Magpies, with 100 kids participating. This is to be run again in 2013, and with the possible introduction of a junior team in 2013 this holds the club in good stead going forward.
The passion, loyalty, commitment and hard work from all involved, from the President, Committee, and Coaching Staff, Players, Supporters and Sponsors will again see this great club return to a power house it once was.
To the sponsors, players and supporters who have committed to the Laverton Magpies for 2013, a huge thankyou and I urge anyone who has yet to do so get on board now, and be part of something special and enjoy the ride.
Side by side we stick together to climb the ladder in 2013.
