Shantelle Mattei was looking forward to strutting her stuff when she ran out onto the the MCG on Saturday.

"I might be a girl but I know how to give the boys a run for their money and I can kick goals," the 10 year old told the Weekly last week.

The Cranbourne Eagles player has enjoyed booting a ball since she was five.

She was part of a group of footy players aged between eight and 13 who went through a footy skills and drills session on the 'G, toured the National Sports Museum and watched St Kilda play Melbourne.
