Stephen Wright and Simon Fisher acknowledged for their coaching achievements.
Australian Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Awards recognised community football coaches’ service and excellence in various categories last Friday night at the MCG with more than 300 guests in attendance.
20 Victorian finalists were chosen to attend the event and were nominated across five award categories of Auskick, Junior, Youth, Female and Senior Coach of the Year. Among the finalists was Central Region’s Auskick nominee Simon Fisher and Senior nominee Stephen Wright.
With over 20 years of coaching experience including VFL, TAC Cup & SANFL and an excellent teacher of the game, Oakleigh District coach Stephen Wright took home the Victorian Senior Coach of the Year Award.
Stephen commended the volunteers at Oakleigh District FC for their tireless work and also thanked his wife Kerrie for sticking by him throughout his coaching career.
A fantastic effort by both Central Region coaches Simon and Stephen having been recognised at a state level for their achievements as coaches who have given quality service to Australian Football in Victoria.
