In 2003 the Melton Super rules Football Club were approached about the idea of setting up a women’s football side to enter the VWFL competition. They liked the idea and from this the Melton Super girls were formed.

Our first season in the VWFL was very competitive with many girls joining the team and learning the great game of Aussie Rules. We made the finals in our first year but were knocked out in the first round by a better team on the day.

Our second year saw us struggle a little bit with only five wins for the season. At the end of the year several girls moved on and a couple retired.

Our coach also left due to other commitments and we knew that we had to go on a massive recruiting drive if we were to continue playing.

Our recruiting was very successful with about half our players this season new to the club. We plan on making the finals this year and going further than our first year to make this our most successful season so far.

As well as the on field side of things the Super girls have some fantastic social events throughout the year and the social, friendly atmosphere off the field is something we pride ourselves on as much as the competitiveness we show on field.

New players are always welcome and we train on Wednesdays and Fridays at Oval 2 MacPherson Park Melton at 6.30pm.
