How good is that ??? A clean sweep for our footballers, what a great night out for the Burra ! We've known all year that we belong to the best club in the league, but now it's official.......WE HAVE THE BEST FOOTBALLERS IN THE LEAGUE !!
We are so proud of our winners and congratulate all our players for representing our club in the outstanding manner in which they have this season. A special mention to our Under 18's B & F winners, as it's not easy to get umpire votes in a side that is beaten convincingly week after week. With 44 players every game and only 3 players awarded votes, for Dylan and Jack to receive the most votes in the league for the season shows just how great they are, and we are proud to have them wearing the Burra jumper.
So, back to the finals.......and what a performance by the Burra last Sunday !! Our Reserves certainly had the cheer squad behind them this time, and it paid off resulting in a win by a lazy 16 goals ! They made it look like a walk in the park (even if it was a boggy swamp of a park !) Hopefully they take that confidence in with them when they come up against Romsey this Saturday. The winner of this game will advance to the Grand Final on the following Sunday, and will play against Riddell who are already in the Grand Final with a week off this weekend. The good news is that, with our Senior boys knocking off Riddell last Sunday, Riddell can no longer field their Senior players in the Reserves, so who ever gets through (and of course it WILL be the Burra !) will be on a level playing field with them on the big day.
And our Seniors fought out their win against Riddell last Sunday. Again, a huge cheer squad willing them over the line by 15 points in a hard slog of a game that took it's toll on our boys. It was close the whole game, but when Riddell looked like running over the top in the last quarter, our Burra boys dug deep and found something to ensure they stayed in the finals. With a couple of injuries, and the men in orange deciding Crogga should rest his legs this week, they are going to have to give it all they've got in their game on Saturday when they also come up against Romsey. Again, if they win this week, they'll advance to the Grand Final against Sunbury the following Sunday. And what a ripper of a game that would be !
Both our teams will be needing all our support again at Macedon on Saturday. The weather was fantastic at Riddell on Sunday and is looking to be the same this week. The Macedon ground is a great venue on a nice day, and the best place for a finals atmosphere.
So lets get there in colors and voice and give our Reserves and Seniors the support they so deserve to get them into the Grand Final !!!
GO THE MIGHTY BURRA !!!!
